Amazon.co.uk Review Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland has continuously delighted readers, young and old, for more than a century. A classic tale that has been interpreted by many an outstanding artist over the years, this remarkable story of one little girl who embarks on possibly one of the most amazing, fantastical adventures in literary history has more than stood the test of time.
Here, in this stunning new edition, Helen Oxenbury, one of the most exceptional contemporary children's illustrators, turns her hand to what is certainly no small project and has succeeded in surpassing expectation. More abundantly illustrated than other editions of the same work, this unabridged version is packed with contemporary and accessible interpretations of the kaleidoscope of characters--the White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, the Queen of Hearts--who have each captured the imaginations of generations of children.
Alice herself is portrayed as a thoroughly modern miss--casually dressed, personable, and spirited--and her surroundings are brought to effervescent life with a warmth, depth and distinctive sense of humour that perfectly complements the shenanigans of the topsy-turvy world of Wonderland.
A perfect gift for any child, this stylish, must-have version of Carroll's unforgettable fantasy is perfect for confident young readers to read alone, or is ideal for sharing as a bedtime read with an adult. (Age 7 and over) --Susan Harrison
This edition illustrated by ROBERT INGPEN...August 25, 2010 Frank Messely(Kortrijk, BELGIUM) ... is a wonderful book. We all know Carroll's story illustrated by John Tenniel, but I had been looking for a more recent illustrated version, and finally found this. Everything is just perfect. High quality drawings, beautiful technique and rich pastel tones, great layout, the print easy to read, all in a nice hardcover binding (the front board embossed with a falling Alice). If one collects different editions of this story, this is definitely one to have. A treat for kids and (ever-young) adults alike!

Alice Still AppealsJune 27, 2010 Lovely Treez(Belfast, N Ireland) I was loathe to introduce my 6 yr old to Alice via the Disney film and/or Disney books but it was proving difficult to find a well illustrated, up to date version until I discovered Helen Oxenbury's edition. I think we both fell in love with it. It crosses that bridge between picture books and read it on your own, forget about the pictures boring volumes - would that there were more versions of children's classics like this widely available on the market with well laid out text and exquisite illustrations making it an ideal book for sharing - something that we don't do enough of these days despite the campaigns for improved literacy! An ideal companion to Lauren Child's illustrated version of Pippi Longstocking - I wish they were around when I was little!
