My 2 year old already loved watching 64 Zoo Lane on tv but she REALLY enjoys the books. In this particular book, Georgina the Giraffe decides to hold a singing recital to impress her friends but in her excitement gets her neck tied in a knot and has to visit the "knot doctor".The illustration in this book is fantastic and each animal is drawn beautifully. A real treat.
La LA la! May 19, 2005 curvycurls (UK) This book is a great version of the TV show. My son loves me to read this to him. It gives a great scope for different voices! Recommended, as are all the Zoo Lane books.
A book to bring a smile August 30, 2001 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
My 2 year old daughter and I rate this with five stars because it is fun. The idea of Lucy living next door to a zoo and the animals giving her a bedtime story every night is a very sweet one. I think children get a big kick out of recognising animals and making their noises, so with this story based only on animals, it is a winner. The animals are extraordinary ones as well, no pet or farmyard friends here, and with catchy names (Georgina the Giraffe, Zed the Zebra, etc). I'm always being asked "what's that Mum?" to those that she hasn't come across before. Georgina's story isn't too long to keep a little one entranced, and the singing and rhyming part of it always brings a smile. The artwork and illustrations are superb in 64 Zoo Lane. There is a comical twist to conventional drawings which makes them funny anyway, yet always recognisable. We thoroughly enjoy 64 Zoo Lane and I look forward to more books becoming available.
Great book, amusing story with lovely illustrations August 23, 2001 7 out of 7 found this review helpful
This book accompanies the telvision series which our 2 year old daughter loves, and the book has not disappointed. The books tell how Lucy climbs out of her bedroom window (at 64 Zoo Lane) each night, slides down the neck of Georgina Giraffe into the zoo next door and listens to a different animal tell a story. This is the story of the Georgina the Giraffe and what happens to her when she shows off. Elements from this story now crop up regularly in our daughters play, and it is a bedtime favourite.
